Throughout my childhood my mother was diligent in her vacuuming the carpet in our house. When she was done it would have a pattern similar to this. If someone else vacuumed she would redo it until it again had the pattern. She was otherwise normal but definitely took the warning of the carpet salesman about premature wear from improper care to heart.

I bet they use some sort of cut out to make it look that way. You can see a rectangular-ish outline. Still looks good though and I appreciate the attention to detail.
